141 Flight Training

Accelerated Training For the Motivated Pilot

Blue River’s 141 program offers accelerated, professional flight training for Private Pilot, Instrument & Commercial students. These programs are ideal for students who are committed to training 3-5 days a week. Following a strict Gleim curriculum, you will work one-on-one with a single dedicated CFI to complete your training & earn your certificate and/or rating. Along the way you will receive “Stage Checks” by one of our in-house 141 Check Instructors who will assess your progress and promote you to the next stage of training.

You & your CFI will be able to monitor & track your progress and you will know exactly what to expect leading up to each & every training session.

Blue River’s entire fleet of Cessna 172s & Cessna 150s are approved for 141 training, in addition to Redbird, our full-motion simulator!

With 141 instructors available from 6am to 10pm 7 days a week, and aircraft available to rent 24/7 during the summer months, rest assured that your training will not be delayed due availability & scheduling.

Frequently Asked Questions, Answered

Generally speaking, 141 training is more structured and focused for the career-track, professional pilot. Part 61 training is more flexible and customizable for the recreational pilot.
If you have the ability to set aside a significant amount of time for training, and appreciate a structured environment with regular “stage checks” and progress reports, 141 is for you.
If you are only interested in obtaining your private pilot’s license, and have no specific plans to fly commercially, 141 training does not provide any significant benefits to you and 61 is likely your better option.

Blue River’s 141 program includes the following courses: Private Pilot Ground, Private Pilot, Instrument Pilot and Commercial Pilot.

We have an FAA approved advanced aviation training device – a full-motion simulator – that is part of our training program: Redbird FMX. For your commercial rating, you can utilize our Redbird for up to 30% of your flight training, or 36 hours of the required 120 hour minimum.

Blue River’s fleet consists of Cessna 172s – including three that are considered Technically Advanced Aircraft with 3-axis autopilot systems on board – and Cessna 150s, both VFR & IFR equipped. Learn more about our fleet here.

Yes, we train and fly year round! The summers in Alaska are amazing and offer plenty of good weahter and long days for training. Like anywhere you go there are days that we can not fly due to bad weather. In the winter we keep most of the planes in hangars and plugged in so they are warm and ready to go even on the coldest days.
