"Blue River Aviation runs a great flight school. All of the instructors are very sharp, punctual, and on point."
— Jake Fennell
Blue River Aviation’s founder, Jamie Hastings, began flight instructing in 2009 while working as a pilot for Peninsula Airways. After a decade of flight instruction, he decided to pursue his flight school full-time and bring on a number of other instructors, thus Blue River Aviation was born.
Our flight school focuses on professional aviation training, preparing students for everything from careers in the airlines to off-airport in Alaska’s vast backcountry. We take pilots from zero hours to commercial multi-engine and CFI. In addition we provide tailwheel, seaplane and ski instruction.
"Jamie Hastings runs a top-notch flight school at Blue River Aviation. The combination of his flight skills and his ability to instruct is exceptional. "

We provide aircraft for a variety of training. Everything from a 150 and 172s, technologically advanced aircraft (TAA), complex, floats, skis, multi-engine and more!
Blue River Aviation also operates Kavik Aviation Services, an FAA Part 135 certificate holder. We offer on-demand charters for fly-out fishing, hunting, gear drop-offs, eco-tours, bear viewing, remote fuel delivery, etc. While Alaska’s backcountry is vast, its road system is limited. We are able to bridge that gap, providing the access you need to safely arrive at your destination.
Kavik Aviation Services operates with both Cessna 172s and a Cessna 206, allowing for a variety of sizes of shipment of goods and number of passengers.
"After many years of struggling with flight schools across the country, I finally found Blue River Aviation and accomplished my goals!"
